Trip Details
SOUTH VALLEY
We will pick you up from your accommodation between 8:40 AM and 9:00 AM, then head to the Tipón Archaeological Park to begin our Inca adventure. The complex is located 24 km southeast of Cusco and is believed to have been a royal garden ordered by Huiracocha. It is one of the most elaborate examples of agricultural terraces created by the Incas. These high terraces extend down to the narrow valley and are irrigated by an aqueduct from Pachatusan Mountain. In addition to the terraces, there are other structures at Tipón, including Inca baths, a temple complex, canals, and aqueducts.
After Tipón, we will head to Pikillacta, the only pre-Inca site in the Cusco area. This adobe complex was built between 700 and 900 AD by the Wari culture. Nearby, there is also a small Inca site known as Rumicolca, an ancient Inca checkpoint.
After visiting this complex, we will continue to Andahuaylillas, where we will discover the “Sistine Chapel of Peru,” a church housing golden altars, paintings, and painted ceilings. The exterior of the chapel is simple, but inside, you will find numerous masterpieces, with fascinating walls.
