Trip Details

SALKANTAY TREK – 5 DAYS / 4 NIGHTS

 DAY 1: CUSCO – MOLLEPATA – MARKHUQASA – SORAYPAMPA – HUMANTAY LAKE

Our Salkantay Trek begins at 05:00 a.m. During the journey, we pass through the towns of Izcuchaca and Limatambo, arriving in Mollepata around 07:30 a.m., where we enjoy our first breakfast. We then continue toward Cruzpata and begin the hike toward Soraypampa, our first campsite, where lunch is served.

In the afternoon, we hike up to Humantay Lake, where we admire the stunning glacier views and turquoise waters. We return to Soraypampa for dinner and overnight camping.


DAY 2: SORAYPAMPA – SALKANTAY PASS – COLLAPAMPPA

We hike early to the highest point of the trek, the Salkantay Pass, where we enjoy breathtaking views of snow-capped mountains. We then descend for about 2 hours to reach our lunch spot.

Afterward, we enter the high jungle and cloud forest, a beautiful transition zone full of wildlife, as we continue toward Collpapampa, where we camp for the night.


DAY 3: COLLAPAMPA – LA PLAYA – SANTA TERESA

After breakfast, we walk through the lush Santa Teresa valley toward La Playa Sahuayaco, passing waterfalls, orchids, and plantations of coffee, bananas, and avocados. We also have the chance to taste local organic coffee.

After lunch, we take transport to Santa Teresa, where we relax in natural hot springs. Overnight stay in Santa Teresa.


DAY 4: SANTA TERESA – HIDROELÉCTRICA – AGUAS CALIENTES

In Santa Teresa, you can choose between a zip-line experience or visiting the hot springs. We then continue to Hidroeléctrica, passing through beautiful landscapes of waterfalls and plantations.

After lunch, we hike approximately 2 hours to Aguas Calientes (Machu Picchu Pueblo). Dinner and overnight stay in town.


DAY 5: MACHU PICCHU – CUSCO

Early in the morning, we explore Machu Picchu, with the option to hike or take a bus up (additional cost). We enjoy a 2-hour guided tour of the archaeological site, temples, and sacred areas.

Afterward, you will have free time to explore or optionally hike Huayna Picchu or walk to the Sun Gate (Inti Punku).

Finally, we return to Aguas Calientes, take the train to Ollantaytambo, and continue by transport back to Cusco, completing the Salkantay Trek.
