MARAS AND MORAY
To start our Moray and Maras Salt Mines Tour, our transfer will pick you up early from your hotel between 8:00 AM and 8:30 AM, and then we will head in our private transport to Moray and the Maras Salt Mines. Along the way, you will enjoy beautiful Andean landscapes surrounded by trees and wildlife.
First, we will visit the Moray archaeological site, located 38 km from the city of Cusco. Moray is considered an Inca agricultural laboratory built with circular terraces, specifically formed by four muyus or concentric circles. The deepest terrace has an 80-meter depression, with the lowest terrace measuring 36 meters in diameter. Within the terraces, there are temperature variations from 0.5 to 1.5 °C per terrace, which can reproduce up to 20 different types of microclimates. It is said that the purpose of this archaeological center was to cultivate crops that did not grow naturally in this area.
